Introduction to the National Advocacy Qualification"One of the most thought provoking, stimulating and helpful courses I have attended. I wish this qualification had been available years ago’’.
Qualifications in Independent Advocacy provide relevant and practice based training to the advocacy workforce.
There are up 10 units to choose from dependant on your role which allow you to specialise in working with a range of groups (including mental health, young people, adults, IMCA and management).
If you already work in the advocacy sector you may wish to complete the qualifications if you want evidence that you are good at what you do and have achieved a recognised standard. You may also want to complete the course if you use advocacy as part of another role (carer, social worker, nurse, etc) or want to become an independent advocate.
The qualifications fulfil Department of Health and Welsh Assembly Government requirements that Independent Mental Capacity Advocates (IMCAs) and Independent Mental Health Advocates (IMHAs) complete approved training.
