Total Respect is an amazing way to train your teams in listening to and respecting children and young people. We work with you to train your young people and adults to roll out training programmes across your authority.
This national training programme promotes the voice of looked after children and young people in their individual care planning. It helps services design and offer opportunities for involving children and young people within policy and service development.
Delivered over 3 days, Total Respect challenges assumptions about young people and teaches participants how to work together to create better conditions for young people’s involvement in service design and delivery.
Originally developed by CROA, the initiative offers a unique opportunity to be trained directly by young people who are either in care or have experienced care. Ownership of the course was transferred to CRAE in 2012 following the closure of CROA. Kate Mercer Training now works in partnership with CRAE to deliver Total Respect.
The training is aimed at a cross section of people who have responsibilities in providing or developing services and is ideally suited to Elected Members, Senior and Midlle Managers, Social Workers, Carers and Workers from other settings such as Education and health.
Corporate parents now use it to improve their ability to listen, respond and include the views of children in their care.
Awards include Pavillion Training Awards and TOPSS National Training Accolades.
